Since 2013, the Global Sustainable Tourism Council has recognized the Greener Hotels program as one of the world's most prestigious certification programs for sustainable tourism.
Program
The Greenest Hotels Program is an initiative of the Argentine Association of Tourism Hotels (AHT). It is validated by the Argentine Institute of Standardization and Certification (IRAM) and recognized by the Ministry of Tourism of the Nation.
In 2011, AHT set this program as one of its top priorities. It began with a phase of awareness and self-assessment for its member hotels and the launch of a Good Practices Manual (Keys to Eco-Responsible and Eco-Efficient Management). A year later, the Program expanded to the community through the Sustainable Hospitality Contest.

How to obtain the eco-label
This is a national eco-labeling system, proposed by AHT, that sets management criteria across various levels and serves as a blueprint for recognizing and certifying sustainable hotels.
Hotels certified with the Greener Hotels Eco-label adopt a management and continuous improvement approach that aims to preserve and enhance the destination's cultural and natural heritage. These accommodations engage in social responsibility initiatives, adhere to legal and safety requirements, maintain service quality standards, and communicate their efforts to staff, guests, and the local community. As a result, certified hotels can improve their brand image, gain a competitive edge, and reduce operating costs.
As part of Hotelga 2024, Greener Hotels will have a booth to provide information and address certification inquiries from interested establishments.
